Despite popular myth the lever shotguns are pretty crappy. Kinda why they never sold well and were supplanted fast by pumps.

What kind was it? I've read some are good and some are useless, especially when it comes to extracting. My lgs had one last time I was it. Definitely caught my eye but I don't know which are good and bad.

I don't know about "pretty crappy." It is true that John Browning designed the 1887 for Winchester, despite recommending a pump action. The 1887 did pretty well until being supplanted by pump action guns. I've been told they are good guns, although the lever throw is very long.

I would like to get a Chiappa 1887 repro for Cowboy Action Shooting. Something different from the standard SxS double barrel. 1897s and repros can be difficult to find, and by what other CAS shooters indicate, can be problematic. Despite this, a lot of top shooters use them, while I can only think of one off the top of my head shooting an 1887. Granted, CAS can be hard on guns.

Marlin still made a lever .410 a couple years ago, a local gun store had one & it was a thing of beauty to look at & run the action. it didn't really push the right buttons for me so I never bought it.

a co-worker has a Winchester lever 10 gauge, made at the turn of the last century. his grandpa bought it in the teens, passed it down to his dad, & after his dad's passing he now has it. His dad told him when his grandpa passed it down, he had taken it into the yard to shoot a coyote. After a couple shots were fired, he came back in the house & said "I missed," handed him the gun & never shot it again.

The lever action Winchester was good enough for the Terminator in the second Terminator movie.

Don't have one yet, but I am looking for the lever action in this ad. The Model 50 Levermatic was the lowest prodiction model Kessler made in the 3 years it made shotguns. Bonus Trivia, Marlin bought most the remaining stock of Kessler Model 50 parts from Numrich after Numrich purchased the parts when Kessler shut down in 1953. The Levermatic name on Marlin's .22 Levermatic came from the Kessler model's name.

The only one I have is my Win. 9410, the only thing I don`t like about it is, it only shoots 2&1/2 in. shells.........Does shoot slug fairly well..............

I really want one if those. I've only seen them on Gunbroker but I love the 94.
