I have a sling for every shotgun I own. Even a slip on one for the SxSs, although I did install the bases on some of those too. I have always carried a lot of stuff with me. Decoys, blind material, an umbrella, water for the dog, shells, food, flashlight... just always a lot of stuff. I do not shoot with the sling on if I can help it.
What could have happened... did.

In an number of the Eastern States (and in portions of Virginia, my home state) only legal firearm for deer IS a shotgun w/ buckshot.

PS- Virginian- what part of the Old Dominion?
What we have here is... failure- to communicate.

Sucks. Here in NY you can only use slugs for deer in a shotgun with at least a 20ga.

OK, so it seems that a shotgun sling should be removable & its use or non-use should be determined by relevant circumstance.

I'll see about rigging the sling for quick removal/reinstallation.

I find myself wondering if anyone sells a retractable sling, kinda like a seatbelt with the base at one attachment point & a quick-connect device on the end of the belt to attach to the other attachment point. The base with spool of sling/belt could be mounted on the side or bottom of the buttstock. I wonder if anyone's been bored enough to build that?
