Can anybody tell me about this found it in the garage

Snakedriver 09-01-2011 02:59 PM

How come I never find cool stuff like that out in the garage???

Winchester Model 1897. If it's original, it could worth some money. ;)

ETA: They were big favorites with our troops in the trenches during WWI.

Thought it looked like a trench gun

How bout this I found it with it

lucky, I would get it checked out by a pro before going to shoot it, or before you try to sell it, there worth a lot more money if they shoot.

Colt 1911 in 45 ACP you are lucky!

Like previously stated it's a Winchester Model 1897 shotgun. If it was a trench gun it would or "should" have a bayonet lug and a heat shield on the barrel.

It shoots great so accurate

crazyman24 09-01-2011 03:19 PM

Are they the same design

Firearms4ever 09-01-2011 03:25 PM

They're the same firearm, but the difference is the heat shield, bayonet lug, and the barrel on a trench gun had a 20 inch barrel instead of 28-30 inches like the standard model.
