If recoil is an issue for you, look at a Benelli SuperNova with the ComforTech® System. You could probably get one for between 400 and 500.

Recoil will be an issue, but weight is also important. While I am working on strengthening my upper extremities, for now, the lighter the better. That is why I am interested in youth models. Thanks everyone. Cheryl

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the direction you gave me today. It's a start to finding the shotgun that will fit me and I can enjoy inspite of my handicap. This is a big step for me. Wish me luck! Cheryl

I just noticed that the NRA has a disabled shooting services site. They might be able to help you out:

Still searching for my shotgun. What is your opinion of the Remington 11-87 Compact Sportsman? If anyone owns this gun, your opinions would be welcome. Cheryl

Cheryl, not holding back. I like to see that. The 11-87's are no joke. Excellent guns, but I have no idea about the compact. I imagine it has the same working parts as the regular, but smaller? Have you fired this shotgun? If you do, and can handle it, do not look for anything else! 11-87's are one of the common work horses of the semi-auto shotguns. You likee, you buyee!
