Technically it's a little over 18". Closer 18 1/4" just to cover my butt. If I actually had to use it in my home, I'd hate to have it put under a microscope due to its "close to being illegal" barrel length.

Every night before bed i pull out of my safe my H&R Pardner Pump Protector 18.5" full tube of winchester 3" 00 buck 15 pel empty champer right next to me in between the nightstand and my bed. anyone decides to make a bump in the night is gunna have a really really bad day. but i put it back up in the safe in the morning.

Because 18.5 is what mossy sells, what many le/mil use. Probably tjat extra .5 is to give wiggle room, as many may mod their scattergun with different stocks etc. Just my guess though.
