I'm considering a Remington 887 Nitro Mag Tactical, for Home defense. If anybody has one or knows anything about them , would love to know the pros and cons... THANKS

I would recommend a mossberg 500.

They are meh guns. I dont hear good things about them. also there isnt much in terms of add ons. Go 870 or500/590

Seems to be the consensus . Everybody compares most shotguns to those two. Would you prefer Remington over mossberg or vise versa??

I had my cousins 887 for a month took her out ran her through her paces, the 870 is a better gun hands down. Parts of the bolt on the 887 are polymer as where the 870 is full steel. Also if for some reason if you end up unable to use on of your hands it's harder to work the 887.

The moss 500 isn't a bad gun but the 870 is easier to take apart, also you can get tons of different things for the 870 as where the 887 has limited after market parts available, the 870 is pretty much like a shotgun lego set you can have one actions but have the parts to set it up for home defense, turkey hunting, or trap shooting.

Im with uncle on this the 870 imo is the better gun nothing wrong with the 500, if the 500 feels better use that, but my gut reaction is remington 870

So my father told me he would sell me his standard 870 for 100 bucks. I've priced a tactical 870 for around 370. My question is. If its possible to turn the standard gun into a Tac version for 270 bucks????
