I have a 12 gauge single shot shotgun I love it to death (grandpa's gun) but I'm looking to shoot other caliber and don't wnna spend more money on guns to carry. As I love this gun and carring it but my real question is I'm looking into adapters 12 to 20 or 12 to 410 heck mayb even 12 to 38sp have any of you guys tried the adapters. Accurate?harmful to gun itself? Thanks in advance
very slow to shoot. fire gun, eject adapter, use a wood dowel(or some instrument) to push the empty case from the adapter(while holding the gun), insert new shell into adapter, load into gun. Three hands are not required but would make it easier.
I have used and collected these adapters for many decades now. I did some testing awhile back, but will have look up my results. I remember the shotgun by shotgun adapters worked fine but remember the velocity will be lower and and these adapters had no choke so it will be a close range option. I do remember that the 12 guage x 357 adapter was not rifled and 3 out of 6 shots keyholed at 25 yards. The company SHORT LANE is now offering rifled adapters so this may help.
Shooting the 20 in the 12 will reduce the 20's velocity a fair amount. It will also give you cylinder choke patterns. Plus the very real risk of dropping a 20 in the barrel of the 12 and causing a dangerous obstruction.
