I had the opportunity to do some clay pigeon shooting over the weekend and wanted to learn some more about it. I thought either a sticky or a "Knowledge Base" article that would be a newbies guide to clay pigeon shooting basics and which shotguns and gauges are good might be helpful?

Give us more information like what discipline you'll be shooting like trap vs skeet vs sporting clays vs informal with a thrower. The different games require vastly different equipment and shooting styles.
