It would just be my all around utility shotgun for SD, upland game, deer, trap, skeet, and clays. Can't afford expensive either.

New, a Remington 11-87 (or used 1100 if you don't care about 3" capability), Beretta sold at WallyWorld- think it's a 391 or 3901, Mossberg 930, or a host of good used guns.

Converted Saiga 12.

I picked up a Saiga 12 NIB for $475 with a 8 rnd and 5 rnd mag. Bought two 12 rnd Sure Fire mags for $30 or $35 a piece. Case from Midway USA for about $20. Super fast lock time, easy to clean and maintain and pretty accurate(I frequently shoot skeet with it, 18.5 inch barrel). Downside: won't reliably cycle low brass, #8 target loads, or value pack stuff. Open the gas port setting and it gets better, but I still have about 1-3 FTE per 12 rnd mag. Throw in some TAC-6 or similar buck/high brass and she rocks and rolls, no FTE's. Have had the police called before bc people thought it was full auto. Again, SUPER fast lock time. For hunting I'm pretty sure a three round mag is available as well as 20 and I think 30/40 round drums. Lots of options too if you send it to someone like Tromix. They also come with threaded barrels which I like. For HD I keep only the 12 rnd mags loaded with 2 3/4 inch Centurian buck and ball high brass. If you don't go the Saiga route +1 on a used Remington 1100. Have used one for years for skeet and upland water fowl. Reliable and well built, especially if you can find a well taken care of old one. Most 1100's I've shot will cycle #8 low brass value pack stuff and of course high brass/buck shot. No experience with the Mossberg 900 series, but my 590a1 is a pump action dream come true for HD. I shoot skeet with it too, but any guy with a 870 and some experience will clean your clock. Have fun buying a new scatter gun!
