Default Saiga 12 questions

I have a Saiga 12 that I have dressed up a little bit but I have been having a few issues. Here are some pics of it...

I tried shooting it with low brass and it was having FTE so I tried high brass shots and then it would extract them just fine but it would not load the next round in the mag. It just closed the bolt and never pushed the next shell in at all. I am using a MD Arms 20 round drum mag.

I want to get this gun finely tuned so it shoots everything and works 100% of the time, or as close as possible. What should I do to it/where should I sent it?

I have looked at Tromix online, and read other forums about his work. Is their other options that are more affordable around the DFW area? Or is Tromix the definite place I need to send it?

Take it to a gunsmith to have the gas system tuned.

Trade it for one of these: https://www.mossberg.com/product/shotguns-autoloading-mossberg-930-signature-series-jm-pro-jerry-miculek-series-10-shot/85118

Just kidding you. Saiga shotguns are known for not feeding anything other than magnum loads. A gunsmith might be able to tune the gas system. I would get it going so it will at least feed magnum loads. Then it should be pretty easy to dump the Saiga.

Default Saiga 12 questions

Personally, at $300 less, my Catamount Fury II is a better shotgun then the Saiga or the Vepr,...

Edit: the Only Thing the Catamount doesn't Have that The Saiga has, are 20 rd. Drums....

Not just any gunsmith can work on these or even understands them.

I had one and did get it to run but sold it for way more than its worth to someone who HAD TO HAVE iT NOW.

Most od the issues are caused by poorly fitted gas system parts poorly drilled gas ports or both. I wouldnt send it to just anyine without finding out how they are going to work the gas system if it needs drilling.

Most of these yahoos who call themselves saiga experts just drill the barrels 90degrees to bore axis which ruins the barrel and causes sever leading of the gas system over time.

You can get them to run but your better off selling it and buying a benelli m1, 2, 3, or 4 or a mossberg 930spx or something along those lines.

Has anyone heard of Military Gun Supply in Fort Worth? I was referred to a gunsmith there and he said that he could make the Saiga shoot whatever I wanted. Has anyone ever had any experience with their gunsmiths?

just make sure that if they open the gas ports they drill on the same angle as the existing ports. that is the biggest error in smithing these.

i know im reiterating but it is a very important thing.

Default Saiga 12

As long as the ports are not blocked, the problem is most likely the spring. When I bought mine, the dealer offered the available spring that is used for low base ammo in the Sauna 12. The spring is easily changed. Is does solve the problem.

The Man Isn't just Fast,..He's Blazing Fast,..and Smart...I think someone on here said(I think It was Kryptar) That His Life would be complete if he had a Beer with JM,..I'd have to make it a Blast Of Jack Daniels Honey. Anyone try that Yet? I bought a Gift Pak of Gentleman Jack & 4 Glasses, and a Sample , about a 1/4th Pint-about two Rail car servings Bottle came with it...

I can't do it all the time or even on purpose, but I do shoot doubles so quick with a pump that it sounds like a single shot. I am sure Jerry is faster than I am with a shotgun.

I want to hang Jerry's shell bag over my bed so the knowledge can drip out of it on me.
