I don't know much about it at all. I suppose it could be chrome, i just don't know.
We've got a sick cat going to the vet tomorrow. Depending on what that sets us back, I may be able to pay it off on Friday. But then I have to wait 10 days before I can pick it up because of the stupid CA laws.
I'll put pics up as soon as I get it home.

You are absolutely right Bill. The Apache was the chromed version. I guess the Apaches were the inner city bling tribe. If they named one after my ancestors (Blackfoot) it would be dirty, ill tempered and very deadly

Thanks UnderFire. I'm chompin' at the bit to get it home and get a decent look at it.

I stopped by the shop to put some more money on it and got a better look. It could be chrome, it doesn't show a grain like stainless and it's definitely not nickle.

Remington 48
Anyone know if this Remington 48 can easily be converted from 2+1 shells to 4+1 capacity?
I understand it has a crimped tube to limit capacity to 2+1.

I have a Model 48 in 16 ga. It is recoil operated, and was made in the late 1950's to around 1960 or so. The Model 48 was replaced by the Model 58, which didn't last long before the 1100 came along. I'm typing this from memory, as it's been a couple of decades since I researched mine.
I do know it is a very smooth handling quail and dove gun.
