Another reliable shotgun brand would be stevens by savage they make a 650$ bottom release 12 gauge pump...I've shot it a few times it is quiet,light and very smooth(action wise)go check it out I believe it's like a model 500 or something like that

It has the same exact bolt system as the super black eagle the only difference is the benelli has the springs in the stock and the STOEGER don't I know I had a SBE in layaway and I put it back and spent $1000 less and got just as good of a gun I have experience with both I know.....I have owned 3 1/2" 1187s and 1100 magnums and I wouldn't trade my STOEGER for 10 of em if I had to keep em

And as far as pump guns the novas and super novas are twice the pump gun the new 870s are

Guns aren't only used for combat the 870s in my hunting group are the most quite next to the semi auto benelli. We have 3 guys who use 500's then beside the benelli the other 4 of us use 870's which a little extra action action noise means all the difference between having meat to put in the freezer. Or trying to figure out what meat at the store has pink slime in it.

I agree about the mossbergs being noisy that's the biggest down fall to them

I got a buddy with a Benelli Nova, and it's a nice shotgun. If I was more of a duck hunter that's the one I'd have.

I stick to upland game mostly. I shot more pheasants with my 870 than my Benelli buddy last year. 8)

If the discussion is 500 vs 870 I'd say 870 every time. But comparing a quarter horse to an ol mule? That ain't fair!

Yea I get so sick of the tactical shotguns also....I'm more of a turkey and deer hunter I really liked my nova I had quite well for that but yea I could see where the 870 may have a lil advantage to upland shooting but all that is more in the shooter than the gun lol

I've always used #6 out of my ole $125 Stevens pump with a 28 full I've killed a lot of pheasants and grouse with that set up
