I have an old Remington 870 that I don't ever use and every time I look at it I like to imagine the different possibilities of all the different things that it could be. I've sort of been thinking about putting an AR-style stock on it and getting a tax stamp for a short barrel shotgun so I can use it as a home defense/ hunting camp defense gun. What do you guys have done to your 870s?

I've got a Blackhawk Knoxx recoil reducing stock with the shell holder for the buttstock. Also have a Mesa Tactical 4 round scope mount. Also a 2 round mag extension. Alittle on the heavy side but love it. Looking at getting a 18.5 breacher barrel when I can get the funds for it.

The Blackhawk Knoxx is actually what I was looking into getting. I'd like to have a 12" barrel to cut weight and add "wieldability" for its intended purpose. I'm not looking to add anything but a light to it. I'll just have a bandolier with it to sling over my shoulder when I need it, but hopefully never will.

Though I have no personal experience with it, I am really liking the Magpul setup for them.

It all really depends on what you want or need. I broke my collar bone last year with 2 months till deer season and my future wife bought it for me as a early christmas present. It let me shoot slugs without alot of pain. And I liked the pistol grip on it. Alittle tactical for deer but it worked like a charm.

You may be dissapointed in the knoxx, look at nuthenfancy's video of it. I used a Phoenix Technologies kicklite stock and its a big help, you really dont feel much. I got one on my saiga and it makes a world of diffrence.

The flaw with the knoxx system is that while it does reduce recoil it jumps making that follow up shot off target. The kicklite eats the recoil between the buffer tube and the stock making it easier to stay in target.

I just got one in a trade and im going to completely deck it out. Heres what im getting;
-kicklite stock
-gg&g enhance follower
-Remington mag extension
-black aces rhino rail system
-mesa 6 round side saddle
-25 round shotshell sling

Also with the kicklite stock you get a shotshell holder, pump, and tube cap for $100. Pretty good deal.
