from what i saw on my old 20 ga laminate stock was that it looked like ply wood , with only the top laminated. im sure if its a fully laminated it probably wouldnt be an issue. but mine swelled horribly. put me off wood stocks. my 12 came synthetic.

Check eBay. They have a gazillion 870 stock sets on there usually, some for real good prices.
