Default Remington 870 Castle NUT not coming off

Well after being excited about my new magpul MOE for-end coming in the mail, I went to install it and the CASTLE NUT of the old fore end will not budge one single millimeter. I took a hairdryer to it and still does not work. The model i have is the REMINGTON 870 EXPRESS MAGNUM. I noticed that there are dimples in the tub (pictured below). You can see that rectangular slit, there are 3 of them. My guess is that something dips into those, possibly the castle nut. The magpul foreend says it fits standard 12 GA 870 shotguns. No details on the magnum or any other model. Please help! Thanks!

Upon further inspection, the nut stops before the dimples inside the tube. So WTH is causing this thing to be this way? Thanks

No clue; there are some vids on youtube found for "870 express magnum castle nut removal".

Not a problem on the Mossberg 500.

Eh could not find a video that helped me. I don't know why it is so stuck in there.

Just called remington and they were no help. The call lasted less than 1 minutes. Guy basically said there is nothing they can do. It looks like this is not a common problem. I am out of ideas. I have spent the last 3 hours trying to pry at this thing. Last think I can think of it to break the foreend and get the tube out. But then again it is still stuck.

Get a nice strong piece of pipe, steel, PVC, whatever, put it on the end of your wrench and use it as a bolt breaker. Works for me on my truck, maybe it will work for you to get some extra strength behind it

Thanks for the tip. I will try it. Hopefully it does not break anything else though. The threads are a bit delicate.

Wanting to replace OEM parts, they are stuck, poor customer service, worried about breaking other things like its delicate threads...
