Default remington 870 20GA wingmaster

I just purchased this gun from a woman who said it belonged to her father. Unfortunately she didn't know anything else about it. How do I find out when it was made, etc. The serial # is S451095X stamped MOD chock.

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

Wingmaster is nice! I have one, retired from the Denver PD. You can get different barrels for them -- which makes me wonder if you can put a 12 gauge barrel on a 20 gauge Wingmaster?

What are you going to use it for?

It is a standard frame 20 gauge, made after 1968, when the 'S' serial number prefix began, and 1974 when the 'T' prefix began. You can call Remington for an exact answer. Barrels are so easily changed, I wouldn't rely too heavily on the barrel code.
Good gun. More than the barrel is required to "convert" it to a 20 gauge.
