I have a guy telling me That I can take my Rem 870 20 ga. and swap out the barrel with a 12 ga. and it will function fine. I am not to up to date on my shotgun info so I just wanted to see if someone can tell me if this is true or not.

I believe so, the owners manual should say something about barrel interchangability. I read all model 870 12 ga. barrels are interchangable, except the super magnum.
NO you cannot swap out a 20 ga barrel with a 12 ga barrel!!!!!!!!! You CAN however swap out with other barrels of the same gauge.
Sometimes you earthlings REALLY amaze me!
whoops... My mistake, I read it as if he was swapping out two 12 ga. barrels.
that could be a whole lot of bad news
now I read the owners manual and it says some gauges are interchangeable but it dosn't say which ones.
"There's not too many things, a man can't fix, with a couple hundred rounds, and his 30-06."
Ok I just read the online owners manual and it says all barrels same gauge are inter changeable mine must be a misprint or something cause it says some gauges are interchangeable. its on page 17
