Scope, one with good eye relief, something like a 1-5X variable.
At 1 or 1.5X and both eyes open............close and fast shooting is pretty easy
If you want more mag, then 2-7X.
3-9X might be a bit much.

That's your definition. Mines the ability to put 5 holes as close together as is possible as far as I can. It also is in how far I can cleanly kill something. That distance is a LONG ways depending on the gun.

I agree I just dont shoot enough to get better. I have only gone 3 times since december. Dec. 16 to break the ice after not shooting since 2008. Then jan 10. When I got my new stock. Then I put 10 rounds few months ago after I got my optic. Now put me on my cousins 270 and I can get them in that 1 inch group. But thats like shooting a BB gun compared to my 3" mag. Shells. I may go from red dot to scope and sight in at 100 yds.
