I do agree that an 870 or another pump brings with it a larger sense of confidence.

I carried a 590 while deployed. Great thing about it is I never had to fire it except to check function while leaving the wire. I have a 870 WM that has been 100% through 2 owners (F-I-L and me). My fathers 1100 has been 100% since he purchased it over 20 years ago. I think in general SGs are just great reliable firearms.
