It doesn't take long to switch from pistol grip to full stock on the Winchester Defender or Mossberg 500. IMHO have them both in your stack of stuff.

Easy enough to swap out but pistol grip shot guns are useful for one thing and only one thing: breaching a door by blasting the lock or hinges from a few inches (or less) away. Just my thoughts.

My Mossberg 500A is fun to shoot with the 20" barrel that features a
ventilated handguard, pistolgrip front & rear with a top folding stock & a
side-saddle 6 round ammo carrier & sports a green canvas mil-spec sling
that makes it a formidable weapon that holds 8 rounds of any type of 12 ga
cartridges I choose! The pistol grip foreend tames a lot of the recoil & I can
unleash the same amount of lead with #4 buckshot in one shot as a machine
pistol can in 20 plus rounds, or better with 3" mag loads times 7 as the
maxiumum capacity for the 500A!
