Default Opinions on premium shotgun ammo for HD..

I DO NOT want this to become an argument about which ammo (birdshot, buckshot, slug) is best for home defense...
But I DO want to hear some of your opinions on premium shotgun ammo for home defense.
I running a Mossberg 590A1 tactical. It has a six shot side saddle that I want to keep loaded with 2 or 3 different types of premium ammo for home defense.
I was thinking maybe 2 shells of buckshot, 2 shells of some 00 or 000 buckshot and maybe 2 rifled slugs..
But I was looking for opinions on exactly which premium ammo y'all might be running.
I don't mind spending a pretty penny on the stuff since it'll sit in the side saddle and be used for home defense. Of course I will buy a few extra boxes to see how it patterns for me, but I won't shoot much of it.
I'm looking for exact names of ammo. Like Winchester PDX1 or Hornady zombie max, etc.
Thanks in advance.

That Winchester pdx1 stuff sounds alright. Think It's slug and buckshot.

Personally I think that #4 is a good all round deal. More shot, still do immense damage.

IMO, i would just buy whatever was available and start trying it out. just because it's more expensive, doesn't mean it will perform any better. every shotgun is different. what patterns in one shotgun, may pattern differently in another.

I agree. Especially with shot shells you sometimes end up paying more $$ for a fancy box and catchy tactical sounding name.

I run a little salt and pepper too. I like the Winchester PDX1 Defender 12. I run a few of these and some "00", and the same on the saddle.

ive got federal 2 3/4 00 buck.

i dont think mixing ammo types is ever a good idea. easy to lose track of whats up next. with a pump gun its super easy to switch to a slug when needed. thats why shell holders are popular on shotguns.

pretty much any major name brand is good to go.

most effective rounds are buck and slug in 2 3/4 stick with those from any major name brand and your good for anything that walks on this continent
