Opinion on Savage pump hd shotgun

Was just looking for honest feedback on the Savage hd shotguns. Dicks has them on sale for $219 and was thinking about picking it up for my son for Christmas. It will be used mostly for HD and playing at the range. It's a sharp looking gun with the pistol grip,sights,5+1,18.5 or 20"(cant remem)

They seem to be pretty good guns. Will it be your primary HD gun?

Love it

I bought one of these and I love it looks really good it's super accurate(but how accurate does a shotgun need to be right?) but never had any problems shot all kinds of diff rounds threw it from the cheapest to upper end all worked perfect plus the gun just feels so natural for me best shotgun I've ever fired! My buddy shot mine today and is buying one tomarrow! I highly suggest it!

A shotgun needs to be just as accurate as a rifle. In self defense situations you have about a 2" margin of error. There is no room for the shot to spread.

Back to the topic I highly recommend a full size Stevens shotgun. I have borrowed a bunch of them to go hunting and they always got the job done. I recommend one like this:

Or if you have to be tacti-cool:

I just mean the one that jump outta bed and grab. While not my first choice, a Stevens will do ok.

Don't leave weapons by doors or windows. Chances are you just armed the BG. Closest to you is best.

I just meant my son's bedroom is closer to that part of the house than mine and it will be "his" gun. If i wasn't carrying at the time it would be the quickest to get to

Went to another location and they had the Maverick for the same price as the Savage. The salesman also suggested checking out NEF(New england firearms). Is that the manufacturer of the pardner? Neither had the pistol grip or sights but would trade reliabity for xtras
