Even then you still have something nice to look at.

Yeah, I like mossberg a lot . but I don't really have any hate towards other brands. Mossbergs just suit me better.

P.S I'm looking into a Benelli Supernova for my next shotgun

I have a regular nova and really like it. I'd like to have one of the new "Turkey Thug" mossbergs, just because they look cool...

Maybe soon!

The "best" pump gun?
As far as I'm concerned it's the Remington 870. It's been used by countless law enforcement agencies for decades. I've personally seen ones which have been in use for over 30 years, still running strong.

Recently though, the mossberg 500 became the only shotgun to pass the military's strenuous trials... So who knows. In 30 years we may have a new king...

I could use another shotgun and I probably should have included this in the initial post, but I have a bps and an old bolt action shotgun that my dad just gave me. Both are 12 gauge and I'm considering another shotgun to make a HD shotgun with a tactical stock either AR style or one that completely folds up over the gun. Ive been thinking about an 870, Winchester 1200 or 1300, or a mossberg 500/590.

I havent owned a model 870 for a few decades now and its not my favorite but it is a very durable shotgun. But dont put too much faith in the fact so many agencies used them, so often in these situations it is simply the cheapest bid that gets the contract. I have heard of the Mossberg being the only current shotgun to pass the 3,000 round test. This puzzles me somewhat as most old guns can FAR exceed that figure. My old model 12 trap gun has 22,025 rounds through it without a malfunction or cleaning, and this gun was old and used when I got it. I have been unsucsseful in locating the parameters of the test the US required. Do you have access to this data? Surely the test doesnt consist of simply shooting.

As for agency use, I know too well it's all handshakes and quid pro quo for procurement (at least in my agency) but i meant to reference that my (and a few other) agencies have 30+ year old 870s that have had countless rounds through them, and have had duty use almost non stop with minimal need for anything beyond occasional maintenance.

As for the parameters of the military trials, I believe it's similar to the "over the beach" test used for rifles.
I may be wrong, though. I'll have to dig up that article about the 500 (I think it was an issue of guns magazine)

Anyway, as with any gun, your ability to run it will make the difference... Just so long as its reliable enough to work every time.
