Non-Lethal 12 Gauge rounds
How safe would it to be to say that the non-lethal 12 gauge rounds are actually not lethal? Also does the salt spraying shotgun bullet actually exist/is it legal? Would you use non-lethal rounds in your home, are they reliable?

Non-Lethal rounds have the potential for killing someone. They are simply less likely to kill than say, buck shot.
I have never seen rock-salt shotgun rounds sold commercially. I would not care to speculate on their legality in your location. I have "heard" of people using them before but that may just be urban legend.

Cj is dead right. There is no such thing as a non-lethal round. As for rock salt, the only ones I've ever seen were hand loaded. Good deterent for varmints if you are trying not to kill them. Still possible though. I wouldn't use them in the house.

That is why the police refer to bean-bag rounds as "less than lethal," or "less lethal." At close range, they are most definitely lethal.
