New to Mossberg 500
 

Just got a sweet deal on a brand new 500 with a 28" barrel with a modified choke. My question is, can I still shoot slug through this gun? I am new to shotguns so please cut me some slack:)

I have the same exact gun and yes you can shoot slugs just make sure the 0 choke is in that it came with. Rifled slugs only!

You can with no problems. People say tighter chokes are bad to use with them but I've shot a ton out of my maverick with a modified choke. Keep in mind, if your barrel is rifled dont use rifled slugs, if your barrel is cylinder bore, use rifled slugs. One of the two (barrel or slug) needs to be rifled. Not both, not neither.

Yes -- the slugs will swage. IC would be better. Don't fire thru tighter tho.
