Default My lucky day

Today my mother and me stopped at a yard sale and found a Mossberg 835 ulti mag for $300 dollars, after some haggling the price came down to $230 so my mamma bought it. After getting home I found out that while my dad was in PA some of my uncles gave him a few shotguns to give me. A Beautiful Winchester model 12 made in 1928, an older unfired Remington 1100 with a 30in barrel and a unknown double barreled black powder 12 gauge with all markings rubbed off of it except "best cast steel". The Winchester is the smoothest action I have ever seen, it makes my 870 look like it was made in china.

That 1100 looks like a Magnum or a trap model. Nice indeed.

They Mossberg really likes Remington 00 buck, I took the model 12 to the trap range today only to find it closed, it'll have to wait till tomorrow.

You have some nice scatterguns there SRK. My grandfather had a 20 gauge model 12 that he got from his father. One of the nicest shotguns I have ever shot, even if it looked a little beat up by that point. Wish I could have gotten it when he passed, but the uncle who has it let's me run a few through it on the skeet range whenever I get down his way, so I can still enjoy it from time to time.

Enjoy your 'new" shotguns.

I never was that keen on the Model 12. At the time when the model 12 was in production Remington had not thought of the express. The Wingmaster was a superior gun with a better resale value. I bought an express when they first came out and I was done with Remington. The price of a Wingmaster jumped through the roof and it was not as good as the regular production wingmasters. I sold a Wingmaster trap gun for $700 after the express came out.

The 1100 might very well be a trap model. The earlier trap 1100 didn't have the exaggerated rib that you see on today's trap guns.
