I just bought a 12 gauge 18" barrel Remington 870 Express today from Bass Pro Shop for $379. Capacity is 6+1. Sling, stock sleeve (for carrying extra ammo), buckshot and tax all came out to $440 total.

All black synthetic stock plus all black accessories all looks badarse. I think this will be the new "go to" for my home defense. The old 357 revolver would do the job, but the impact pattern of the shotgun raises chance of a hit I think.

I'm pretty much completely set on the Benelli Nova, but I do have a couple of questions. Do y'all think that upgrading to the SuperNova is a worthy choice? Also, 24",26", or 28" long barrel? Will it really matter??

Also, what about 12GA vs 20GA?

I'm new to shooting, and I weight around 90. Should I get the Benelli Nova, Remington 870 or Mossberg 500?

Last week I tried my friend's pump action one from Big 5 and a Benelli Super Sport and I love the Benelli @.@ but It's too expensive for a beginner... I'm also looking at the Benelli M1.. but I guess I don't need a semi-auto for now?? I'm not sure..

Thanks!

Smurfette, to you I would also suggest the 870 (although I'd probably suggest it to any and everyone as well). Recoil to me using target loads is almost nil (I'm sure the supercell pad they put on the stock helps), yet I am twice your weight. Either way, it's a great thing to have. You can even go 20ga if you're more comfortable with that.

Thanks I think I will get the 870 for now.. but the Benelli M1 is pretty tempting cuz my friend is selling it at $600.. is that a good price?
