BBB bird shot (black cloud) so you don't have to aim ? use the spray and pray method

I'd try shooting those OO Buck shots, before you go out and buy a bunch.

I use 2-3/4 Birdshot, and in 12 gauge, IMHO, it kicks like a mule

with a standard shoulder stock.

I pity you, if you're trying to shoot Buck Shot with that

Mossy 500 with a pistol grip, and you're not built like a linebacker for the

Rams...

I DNK, perhaps I'm all wrong, but for HD, Birdshot is going to chew a

pretty fine hole, and for what you pay for 10-15 rounds of Buck

shot, you can get a bulk pack of Bird shot.

Shotguns will spread about 1 inch wide per yard distance ,,5 yards= approximately 5inch shot pattern. In most HD situations 5 yards is a sizable distance, so aiming is key, even if shooting from the hip (practice if doing so). There will never be the perfect load for everyone, #9, 00, slugs, , not sure it matters at close distances what load,,, as long as its loaded.

Well when I said OO then slugs I meant on the side saddle,my mag tube is loaded all #4 buck. So in my case it would be cycle action back dump the current shell out of chamber, insert slug into chamber on top of elevator, complete cycling the action.

But if my mag tube was loaded OO then slugs and I really needed a slug in a hurry I'd probably just cycle through to the slugs and hope I could recover the 00 that I just dropped. Or forget about it and top off tube with what's on the side saddle

Well, maybe you're typical, but I rather doubt it.

I am built like a linebacker for the Rams, and

IMHO, the Mossy 500 in 12 gauge with Buck shot and

a pistol grip is going to be somewhat jarring, for the

average new shooter.

Put the stock on it and took it to the range this morning. I was shooting winchester 3 inch, 1oz hollow points, they were like $10 for 15 shells. It was a good time even though my oldlady didnt want to try it today. She gonna have to get use to the gun first. They landed high when i was aiming for center target so i had to aim a few inchs below center. Just gotta get use to it myself.

Good call on the stock, Pistol grips IMO are only good for breaching.. They are brutal on your wrists and you're pretty much relegated to hip shots.
