Mossberg Persuader

I am thinking about buying a shotgun called the Mossberg Persuader on 12 gauge, it is pump action and has a pistol grip. Is there anyone with any experience with this weapon who can tell me about it?

I have one and I also have a .410 pistol grip. The .410 is all kinds of fun to shoot and I have fun with it at my cousin's farm. The 12 is NOT fun to shoot (laughing as I type this). It is definitely good for home defense but if you're buying it and think you will shoot it for fun, you won't. We bought a different stock for it when I want to shoot it and can change it back to the pistol grip if need be. You're probably thinking oh she's just a girl, but every male in my family has shot it with the pistol grip on it (once) and handed it back to me....... That being said, it depends what you want it for.

Right now I am looking to use it for personal/home defense.

Then you'll love it. :)

Persuader is a great gun for HD. I would recommend taking a tactical shotgun course if you can and spending time at the range target shooting so you can get a feel for the gun. The course will help you to learn proper stance and technique, like the push-pull method of recoil absorption.

Personally I think a stock is better for a shotgun than a pistol grip alone. You could get a tactical pistol grip stock (meaning it has an adjustable stock and a pistol grip) or a traditional stock like those made by Blackhawk, ATI our Hogue. For a 12 gauge I recommend recoil absorbing stocks, like those above, or a Limbsaver pad to make shooting more enjoyable.

Oh if you intend to use it for multiple purposes, like sporting clays or hunting, then you'll want longer barrels so you'll want to go with a 5+1 Mossberg shotgun over the Persuader because you can change barrels. The Persuader cannot use longer barrels unless you change the magazine from a 7 shot to a 5 shot.

Thank you all very much for the input, it's much appreciated. I have decided to buy it and change it to a recoil absorbing stock as previously suggested. Making my collection bigger!

I bought one for the same reason. But I took the pistol grip off and put a regular butt stock on it.
