Mossberg 500 Won't load

Just bought a new Mossberg 500 and I been playing around with it loading it, and this is what it does-I load 4 shells, I rack the first shell and it goes straight down onto the floor, then I rack the second time and no shell is extracted or goes into the chamber no matter how hard I pump it, I have oiled the gun and cleaned the excess inside but still nothing. Is this normal?

How far have you taken it down in the cleaning process? Is the shell elevator moving up and down when you cycle the pump?

Yes, the shell elevator is moving up, and no I haven't cleaned it very well because I am not educated enough to take it all the way down yet.I do notice that there are 2 extractor arms, one big one on the left and a narrow one on the right, and the narrow one seems to be too far inward as if it's preventing the shell from coming out of the mag tube.

You may want to go ahead and disassemble it and clean it well, and see if the inner extractor is seated properly or if the spring is binding it.

Here's what it looks like after every pump.

Ok, those are the cartridge interrupter and cartridge stop. They should move ad different points in cycling the slide to release the shell onto the elevator and stop the next shell and hold it in place in the mag to prevent a double feed. it looks like the interrupter may be protruding to far or not retracting. you should be able to push on the cartridge stop on the right in the picture, and the shell should come out of the mag. This is how you would unload remaining shells manually without having to cycle the pump.

Try disassembling and making sure the parts are all seated properly.

I took it apart and the cartridge interrupter arm was bent inward so I took it out after watching that video and knowing how now, and I gave it a good opposite bend and reassembled and now it cycles perfectly, but the interrupter had dings on part of it, not a part that touches the shell but the bottom of the hook.I may call Mossberg and see if they will give me a new interrupter because this gun is brand new. Thanks for the help.

No worries.

I was taking pictures of mine:

Don't mind the beat up snap cap (dummy round). Or the grainy i-phone pics.

I e-mailed Mossberg and explained to them the situation and asked for that part, I don't know what their policies are on sending a part, or if they make you send in your gun so they can fix it.Either way I know it's probably fine now, but I have no clue how it got bent and I will always think in the back of my head that the interceptor or interrupter or whatever it is, is slowly creeping back inward as the criminals slowly creep through my windows.Yeah, I want a new part...
