Ohhhhh boy... Not another one of these. Here we are divided by the 500 fanboys and the 870 fanboys. Apple VS. Android, chevy Vs. Ford

REMINGTON 870

Best shotgun for the money. Very rugged (the NEWER models are a hair finickey but they are slowly being fixed). 870's are very well known and parts can be found all over. The shell carrier is a bonus, unlike the 500 which does not have one. And remington has a Rem-Choke system which does not require changing of the barrels to change the choke.

Buy the best, the 870.

The 870's have dual action bars. Never broke any of them.

All my Mossys have chokes, except the HD and rifled barrels. Not an 870 hater but it's not our fault Remington waited so long to make 3" chambers standard. But as one of the posters here pointed out, the Mossy is not good with a pistol grip because of the safety location. If I ever do that it will be an 870 with a lefty safety installed. BTW am I mistaken or does Remington have Mossberg make barrels for them in Mexico? If so that would kinda blur the "Mines better than yours" stuff.

No Remington does not have Mossberg make barrels for them. In Mexico or anywhere else. It amazes me this argument still has legs. Nothing wrong with either gun, and no one is about to change anyone else's mind one bit.

each one has it's haters and fans. both are good shotguns, both have been proven. personally, i too like both of them. would not feel disadvantaged with either one.

What gets ME is ********* thinkin' you have to buy different barrels from Mossberg if you want to change the choke. They had C-Lect Choke when Remington made you buy different barrels and, although you CAN still buy separate barrels with a fixed choke from Mossberg (what customer service!), they have offered screw-in chokes for I-don't-know-how-many DECADES now.

Shows you how on-top-of-it and pertinent defensive Remington owners' opinions are. NOT!

By the way, Remington customer service sends people TO MOSSBERG to buy barrels for their 870's. Hello!!! Even I replaced a Remington barrel on one of my 870 WingMaster's with a straight-rifled Hastings right after I replaced the broken firing pin...

Dude. Chill. We get you don't like Remington but others do, including me. If you have a link to show that Remington is sending away customers (I'd be shocked that its actually happening) please share a link of that

proof and evidence speak volumes. much of the rest is strictly an opinion.

A guy's telling you stuff that hasn't been true since before home computers existed and you have a problem with me for disclosing them? It is about me NOT liking something when I'm simply stating facts instead of someone else LIKING something and being defensive and inaccurate!? Kid, like most Remington appologists, do you ever have things backwards!
