I like my 500, but, to be objective, it kicks

like a donkey that had it's cell phone stolen.

All pumps kick like a mule. It's one of the reasons almost no one uses them in a skeet competition. Although, you do see them on the range prior to hunting season.

A whole industry seems to have developed to mitigate recoil. Weight is the only thing I know that has a definite correlation. Everything else is just incremental or simply extends or slows down the recoil response. (Mercury - milliseconds) It's still gonna hit ya, it just won't get there all at the same time.

Gas guns are your best bet. Better still, drop down to a 20 ga or 28 ga. 28 ga is my personal favorite, I love everything about it except the price of the shells.

MOSSBERG - Dual action bars, dual extractors, better safety location, better slide release location. The older 870s are ok, but still not a mossberg.....

I was referring to the older 1200 120 and 1300s and they were made by Winchester
