Default Try a good game load first.

I'd try a good game load in it first. I've been hunting rabbits with my Mossy 500 20ga for years using the slug barrel (cylinder bore). I load 1oz #6 to 1300fps and the combo works great. Perhaps the cheap loads you are using are the problem and not the barrel.

Tools and measurements required for Rem-Choke installation.
12 gauge
Minimum barrel OD----.850".
Maximum barrel ID----.740"
Minimum barrel thickness after machining----.018"

The work can be done by hand, but is highly recemended to be done on a lathe and by a gunsmith familiar with choke tube installation.
