Mossberg 500 problems

So here's the deal. I was having problems with shells dropping out of the tube, I believe I asked a question about that a while back. Anyway, I replaced the cartage stop and interpret assembly. After doing that it held the shells just fine and cycled just like it should. I finally got to shoot it last weekend and after the first shot the pump got stuck in the back position. I had to take it all apart to get it to go back forward. Shot it again and same thing. Do you guys know what could have caused this? I never had that problem till I replaced those 2 little parts, not sure if it's something I did or what the deal is.

Not trying to be smart, but it sounds like you put something back wrong.

I was thinking the same. Check y tube and make shore its assembled right

I thought that at first. Then I disassembled and put it back together and got the same results. I might just go back and triple check though just to be safe. I've had it apart many times for cleaning and never had that problem before till I got the new parts in.

What had me stumped the most was that it cycles just fine until it's fired

Put the shell stop and the interrupter in right before you drop in the trigger assembly. Once you pin the trigger assembly it should be good to go. If you have a vise clamp the receiver in the vise so you are looking in the bottom of the receiver. I have a plastic/rubber carpenters vise I use to field strip and do minor repairs to my guns but with due caution any vise will do the trick.

YouTube has hundreds of quality videos on field stripping the 500. There are several really short videos. The guy tears the shotgun down and puts it back together in a couple minutes.
