Mossberg 500 persuader.

Is it a good gun or no?? Im thinking about purchasing one and i'd like to hear if anyone has had any issues with them.

It is like a Ford F-150 work truck. It's not the most expensive or fancy, but it'll still handle it's business in 60 years....

Ditto what Mohawk wrote. Easy on the wallet yet it will do what you want it to do.

ditto what the others have said. Mossberg 500 and Remington 870 are the workhorses of shotgunning. Inexpensive, reliable and simple to maintain (basically no maintenance required).

I own a 500A Persuader/Cruiser, 7+1 and totally agree with the others. Never had an issue with it, and because of it I'm adding another Mossberg, likely a 930 spec purpose, and probably a .410 also.

Couldnt be happier with my Mossberg. Its like having a good woman you'll never stray from. (I have both! lol) :)

Mossberg 500 Persuader is Excellent!

I got my Persuader over 10 years ago. Has been an excellent and very reliable shotgun for me. I have it set up for HD, with a few upgrades that have worked nicely for me. I put on a high grade (SureFire X300 Ultra) 600 lumin taclite and a recoil reducing pistrol grip stock made by Blackhawk. The stock is amazing, as it not only reduces felt recoil (I'd estimate at least 50% less kick felt on your shoulder) but has the added benefit of helping you to cycle the action faster than normal. It's unusual: but the entire shotgun (forward of the stock) moves rearward, and then forward, in your hand (maybe an inch ?) when you fire it; because the stock has built-in springs that absorb the recoil. But, the stock compressess slightly when this occurs. When this happens, it naturally breaks the action open and gets the action cycling before your muscles actually move to do it. It happens right when you fire it. I can cycle the action faster after firing than I can reaquire my target.

I like my 870s very well but I will say. I have had three Mossberg 500s 2 12's and 1 20Ga. And all three have been great guns with zero problems. And for the money they simply are hard to beat. You should have no problem with your decision at all, they are good quality Shotguns. Also at the present my Turkey gun is a Mossberg 930 in Semi Auto which also is a fine gun.

I do not own one but I have heard nothing but good things from them. However recently Gallery of guns has been running a sale, a local sports store has the 500 persuader for $599.99 and on GoG the 590a1 was around $525.00 or $550.00 on sale. If I didn't jut get the Remington 870p I would have ordered the 590a1. (I hear they are around $650.00 or so)

edit- I didn't realize this thread is 5 years old until after I posted.
