Just bought a maverick 88 and looking for a new stock.

Do all 500 stocks fit an 88?

From what I understand anything that will fit a 500 will fit an 88, less the barrel.

The stocks for the 500 will fit the 88. The forearms will not interchange though.

^This^ and one other thing are not interchangeable. You can't swap out the trigger assemblies. the safeties are different, and are in different locations. Barrels are interchangeable between the two, as are stocks. Forearms are a no-go.

Boyd's has laminate buttstocks and forends for the Mossberg 500. what is the difference in the forends and could they be modified to fit the Maverick M88? reason i ask i have a M88 and would like to change out the plastic for laminate if possible.

Pretty sure the M88 forends are interchangable with the 500. I think it used to have a single rail but now It has 2

M88 will take a forearm but needs a tube and but that the sport mossys have but m88 lacks. Order it from midway.
