Good reliable gun. But I would throw a stock on it. Or get the pistol grip forend.

That's a good kit you have. Mossbergs are the bees knees.

+1 on the stock. I don't know if you have a fixed cylinder, but if you can use chokes, they'll work as a trap and skeet gun if you just wanna have some fun.

I just can't understand why so many people like the Mossberg 500. I have had three of them and everyone of them had problems. To me they were junk. I am not a major pump gun fan, though I do have a Winchester Model 12 and a Win. Model 42. I also have a Benelli Nova that I use for duck hunting. I have had no problems with any of them. Not trying to be a troll and I'm sure I will ruffle some feathers so I apologize in advance. I will never own another 500. I'm just reporting my experiences.

Just curious as to what your problems were?

I own many 500's and they all run flawless, never a problem from any of them. In fact I own a JIC the same as the OP has in the green tube, mine now wears a conventional stock though.

Never had a problem with the 500 myself, nor have I personally known anyone who has.

I think maybe you just had a crappy run of luck, cottontop.
