A 20 gauge full choke bolt action shotgun is a great squirrel hunting gun. As a teenager, I shot lots of pheasants with an old 16 gauge J.C. Higgins bolt action. They bring back memories of a less complicated time.

i'll post some pictures later tonight when i get back home.
Mine was in kind of poor shape when I found it............

Nice catch there!

I have one of those. Very fond of it. Maybe you said -- does it have the C-Lect choke? Makes it very versatile. If you are not big game hunting and it has a poly-choke, why are you thinking of scoping it!?

does not have the C-Lect or a poly choke or even a screw-in choke. just a full choked barrel. my thinking is to possibly make a slugster out of it.

Without the poly choke I suppose that's not a bad idea. Lotta places limit deer to shotguns so you could always sell it in the Fall, easy.

Me, I'd probably send it to the company "Poly-Choke" and get them to put a poly choke on an overall barrel they cut down to 18-1/4" and use it as my truck-gun!

Hey Axxe55, anyone ever tell you you look like Ernest Hemingway?

no way i would ever cut the barrel on this shotgun. i might drill and tap it for scope bases, but that would be about it. the shotgun is way too good of shape to do any of that. my goal is to just refinish the wood and give some thought to mounting a scope. haven't fully decided yet.

yeah, people tell me that all the time!

Yeah they're pretty rare, I haven't seen one in several years. I have shot a few of them way back in the day though, cool guns.
