The more I read about Mossberg the closer
I'm getting to getting me one. Most particularly
a Mossberg 590A1 12 guage.

Me too! I would love to just get a plain jane mossy 500 with a long barrel to shoot trap with and then buy an 18.5" barrel for HD.

Default I love my 500a!

i got my mossberg 500a field years ago I think it came with a 26" ported barrel. I used it for some dove hunting and deer chasing. Now I have set it up for HD with adapter and leftover parts from my AR-15 it has become quiet a handy little powerhouse. It is a pleasure to shoot and just all around fun, If Mossberg is good enough for Army and Marines (where I first held one) its good enough for my house!

the only form of buckshot i can find is 00 buck 9 pellets is this a good load for home defense better than number 8 bird shot id emagine?

should work, 00 buck 9 pellet is the standard 00 buck load. Some pattern better than others but all should work fine for HD inside 20 yards....dont ever use #8 unless its a last resort and then use many
