Looking for a good pump action shotgun

Hey all,
I'm looking into getting a good pump action shotgun. Living in Chicago my choices are limited and semi automatic shotguns fall under assault weapons:

A semiautomatic shotgun
(i) a folding or telescoping stock
(ii) a handgun grip which protru
(iii) a fixed magazine capacity in excess of 5 rounds (iv) an ability to accept a detachable magazine

Anyway, I've been looking at the Remington 870, this model in particular:
http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/shotguns/model-870/model-870-express-tactical.aspx

I like having sights and the possibility of adding optics down the road. Also I'd like to avoid shotguns with pistol grips because depending on who reviews my registration, they'd deny it. I'm open to other brands and I'd like to keep it well under $1000 for just the shotgun.

Thanks a lot everyone!

Mossberg 590a1 18 1/2" 5+1

I have the 20" 8+1 marinecoate and love it.

Winchester Model 12. Used of course as they don't make them anymore.

I like my Stevens 350 with ghost ring sights and it's a 5+1 plus they only run $220ish so you could get a couple and stay under 1k. Only issue is there aren't man accessories out there for them, but it falls within crook county ordinances.

I'm going to buy something new. Going to take a look at Mossberg and Stevens, any opinion on the Remington?

EDIT: I just pulled up the firearm registration form for Chicago, capacity has to be 5 or less. I think I'm going to hold off purchasing a shotgun until I'm out of the city. I don't see the point in spending even $200 in a neutered weapon just so that it complies with some stupid regulation. For those who want to have a look at what we have to fill when registering our guns:

Therefore I'll now consider shotguns with pistol grips and semi automatics.

check out the Remington M870 pump or the Mossberg M500 or M590 pump. either one will be way less than your budget. both are proven designs and have lots of aftermarket parts and accessories available for them. you can customize them from mild to wild.

2ndAmendment,

First of all you can not go wrong with the Standard Series Remington 870 Shotguns. The one you listed would be an excellent choice for self defense and tactical applications. The 870s have stood the test of time! And very easy to repair in the future should need be.
Also if you want to spend a little less the Mossberg Tactical Shotgun Series are also very good option!
And I certainly understand the Socialist Republic of (Chicago) Illinois!
It is a shame that the good common folks of Illinois have to deal with the idiots in government in Illinois ran actually by corrupt Chicago politics.
I worked for a well known AR Company in Illinois for several years so I know of what I speak!
Anyway! Either of the two selections above would be good!
Good luck! And I do like that Remington 870.
