I am left handed and have never owned a rifle before, but I am planning to purchase a shotgun. I was wondering what kind of options there are for left handed people as far as shotguns and what major annoyances left handed people can run into

Remington makes the 870 pump in a true left hand mirror image shotgun for lefties. They are the only one currently !

Probably have to get a local dealer to order one as few stock them !

I also shoot left, I own a Remington 870 and never had an issue with the shell hitting me. Same for a Mossberg 590 and a Remington 1100.

Rifles tend not to pose any problem, either. Just don't buy a bullpup that ejects out the right side....

I have several shotguns that are truely left handed. A Winchester 12ga. model 1200, a Remington 11-87 12ga.. The Remington is still in production, the Winchester is readily available and easy to find on internet gun auction sites. Most major manufacturers are offering left and right hand versions of their popular models. Have a left hand bolt action 270. Savage rifle also.

If you're left handed you need to try the products that are made for lefties. The more demand the more that will become available. Good Luck in your search.
