It is a Mossberg 500. The barrel was sent to Vang Comp were they lengthened the forcing cone, back bored the barrel and did the porting.

Are those oversized safeties metal?

got tritium sight today. damn, it is TINY lol. a lot smaller than i thought it would be.

threads are perfect, goes right in. i cant get it to line up and tighten down right. i may need to get some sort of tiny washer to put under it, then loctite it down. i'm going out to the mountains in NC this weekend to camp out in the boonies (middle of a national forest) so i need to get it squared away. i'm not screwing around with no bears.

anyways....pics


tritium is pretty bright. wish i had a rear sight, but the picanny rail works just fine. i'm gonna get a reflex sight too.


pics are kinda crappy, my camera is old and the lights are off in the house. i'd def recommend one. MUCH better than the factory gold bead.

Yeah that's the one I am planning on getting, seems smaller than i pictured! Can you try to take a picture of the 'sight picture'. I want an idea of what the rail+tritium looks like, since that is what im planning on doing.
It glows in the dark? I didn't know that ! It looks like a solid, I am defiantly getting one. Where did you get it from by the way? the one on brownells is 35 dollars.

Also, I heard a little Loctite should be applied.I have not heard of anyone using a washer though.

i tried to take a pic of the rail+sight and it wouldnt work. my camera is a real POS. it would just focus on the rail and you couldnt see the sight. it works pretty good though.


i got it from midwayusa. $31.92 to my mailbox. got it in 4 days too. i looked around and midway was about the cheapest place. some places wanted 8 or 9 bucks for shipping. midway was 3 or 4.


you'll def need to loctite it. i'm using the red b/c i'm not taking it out and i dont want it moving.

Lol, it would be just any other sight if it didn’t, anytime you see Tritium it means glow in the dark paint...but real high quality. Make sure to check the manufacture date as they do have a shelf life. Since you were going to buy one not knowing what Tritium is , you can get white dot sights for much cheaper than Tritium.
