There are some newer manufacture ones out there that you don't
need to sell a kidney to buy. Baikal, Remington, maybe EAA? 30-06
and 45-70, maybe other calibers. I've seen an company at gun shows
here in Oregon that does conversions of old double shotguns into
double rifles. Never paid a lot of attention to them, but I don't remember
the pricing being too crazy. A light double in 30-30, 303, 30-40 45-70 or some other rimmed cartridge with express sights or a low power scope
would make a GREAT brush gun. Short, quick, and accurate enough.
