Im totally "pumped"
Yesterday I just bought tue Remington 870 Special Ops shotgun!!!! What kinds of ammo are your favorites for home defense? How do you like this gun? For those of you that have the SpecOps 870, show some pics please!!!!

My go to hd ammo for my shotgun would have to be 00 buck, i dont mess around when it comes to protecting my family.

I have a random assortment for mine. It's my turkey gun though, there are 000 buck 00 buck low recoil buck slugs. Whatever I grab. I rely on my handgun for hd. That 26 or 28" barrel is toooo big

I like the 00 buck. Slugs are good for longer distance but when it comes to a room clearer those 9, 00 pellets can do some damage.

Winchester super X 9 pellet 00 buck, doesn't have much recoil and fits in all of my shotguns.

So my buddy and I shot my new shotgun yesterday.....all I can say is "wow....I'm very happy with it".....we set up a bunch of water filled milk jugs, and ran a couple slugs and #4 buckshot.....and I give it another "wow"....what fun those slugs are.....also shot at a cinder block, which totally annihilated it from about 50 ft....it was a fun day

High velocity 3" BB 12ga is unbelievably underrated for home defence. Any larger shot & you get less shot per shell (resulting in less concentrated spread & rounds on target) any smaller shot may result in under penetration & less killing capability. I also suggest 00bk for home defence however past med distance even mag loads are unreliable at best. Military testing has shown that you need 3 of the 00bk pellets in center mass to cause effective damage for the guaranteed kill. Also look into Winchester pdx1-12 home defence ammo. Three 00bk pellets in front of a 1oz hollow point rifled slug, they also offer fragmenting slug variety.

I live at the edge of town so penetration is less of a problem I like 12 pellet 00 buck.
Although at normal in house distances, skeet loads will work.
