Remingtons are great, mossbergs are great most others are pretty decent too. A pump shotgun is pretty hard to screw up. I would definitely co-sign with the mariner or a marine magnum from remington. stainless is wonderful for keeping away rust and they hold a lot of shells.

that is a great deal, I ran across that the other day. not only that...they're damn sexy. My local gun shop had one for $225 a couple months ago and I'm kicking myself for not getting it. It had a pistol grip which I'm not 100% fond of but I could have changed that for cheap! They also had an SKS at a real good price I wish I had snagged too...but that's off the topic.

I've been very happy with my Mossy 500 for a decade and a half or so now. I have the 18.5" barrel for home defense & a side saddle shell holder. I also kept the barrel it came with for hunting, 28" modified choke. Mine was the $100 pawn shop gun i picked up on the way to a dove hunt. I don't remember it ever jamming.

When it's all said and done I love my Pardner Protector. It was $250 brand new tax and all from dicks and it's a champion. Only thing about it is the weight! But it's very very solid. That being said I still sternly reccommend a mariner or marine magnum for the reasons I gave earlier.
