I shoot skeet on a high school shooting team and I use a Browning B-80. It works fine for me and could probably be found within your price range.

It wouldn't hurt the OP to keep shooting the pump for a while. He will get quicker and the pump will get easier to handle. When he goes hunting or is going to defend his home he is going to grab the pump. Becoming very proficient with a pump shotgun is a lifelong skill. If he slipped a recoil pad over a recoil pad the second recoil pad didn't do much but make the LOP long and the gun hard to point.

Not saying the OP won't enjoy the game more with a true skeet gun. I am saying he doesn't need a new gun yesterday. If the OP can be happy with with the pump for while, he will find a gun he can afford that will last a lifetime.

i just shot an entire match with a pump. had no problem at all.
its not the action that breaks targets, its the 'nut behind the bolt.'

I plan to shoot 50 clays today with a 20 ga pump. Once again I was too lazy to reload for the 28 ga. It is real annoying. I can get a case of 20 ga AA ammo for $85, 28 ga the same ammo, low brass AA $150 a case.

It's entirely possible to shoot anything with a pump. My brother shot sporting clays for 4 years with a 20ga. pump and made NYS champ a few times when he was young.

i have to admit, it is funny watching a die hard pumper switch to a o&u. for a couple games, youll see him try as he might to pump that thing a few times!

whats even funnier is watching a die hard o&u shooter shoot a pump gun. he'll get that 1st shot off and then will go brain dead on the second shot and pull on a dead trigger!!

I've seen a whole lot of the latter but not much of the former. My first shotgun was a pump and I have a pump 22 & 35 but I still dont shoot skeet w one.

Shooting skills are perishable. Even though I grew up w one, it takes me some time to adjust to a "pump world." Never met a "natural shooter."

I watched two brand new skeet shooters last weekend. Both had 20 ga. Gas guns (1100 & 1187) and both of them - repeatedly - got beat by doubles in skeet. (had to stop them from leaving station w live shell).

Note: I'm not saying a 20 ga gas gun removes recoil from the equation (only a 28 ga can do that) but it does make it easier & in a lighter platform. Only negative for 28 ga is the cost of the shells - skeet wise.

I imagine some people can. Years ago, I had problems w double triggers on SXS. Recently went out and had no trouble. I was surprised.
