A large muscular man with extra layers of clothes and or a person hyped up on uppers/drugs/adrenaline might just get mad and charge you if u shoot them with bird shot and 1 shot might be all that u have time for. I'm not saying that bird shot can't kill a grown person, but its not likely to stop someone in their tracks when seconds count.

That was more than two years ago -- I'm sure Mr. Canebrake has read alot here making that clear since including the myth of the evil DA making much out of one's bullets/cartridges.

Just an observation here but this thread is older than canebreak himself. The OP started it in '07 and it quickly died, someone found it and revived it 3 years later in 2010 when it again quickly died, and now it's 2012 and this thread (much like canbreak) just refuses to die. If you want the very best, get a Benelli M-2 or M-4.

and across a bedroom, high brass birdshot is just as effective as buckshot. I'[ve seen the results of both at autopsy.
