The Mossberg 500 or Remmy 870 will do the job. I personally lean towards the Winchester 1200/1300 line.

Either the Mossberg 500 or the Remington 870 will fit the bill. If you go with the Remington 870 I recommend you get an Express Magnum, which will give you more versatility.

saiga. hands-down. Easy to handle, smooth-firing. Intimidating. The 20 gauge is very slick. IMO, it's the best shotty i've fired for 'blowin' stuff up'. I prefer my 1100 Classic Trap for trap and skeet. But for HD? The saiga all the way

OP's suggested price range would rule out my setup - 500 Mossberg with Sure Fire flashlight and Spec Ops Recoil Supression stock.

another good choice would be the Winchester SXP Defender 12 ga. bought mine for $280 +tax, NIB. synthetic stocks and 5+1 capacity. shoots great! even the wife likes to shoot it and insists it stay in the bedroom for hd, because lots of nights i work.
