well i brought it home today and took it apart, and it is in excellent mechanical condition. It does have some pitting and rust on the barrel, and the receiver. I think im going to sand it all down to the bare metal and give it a good polish.

The way the BATFE measures a barrel is to make sure the gun is unloaded then close the action and insert a wood rod down the barrel till it stops on the bolt face and then marks the wood rod at the end of the barrel. Then they measure the rod to the mark.
