Default help with a remington 29

Old family gun possibly took its last deer in November. The barrel blistered on the mercy shot. No I wasn't too close.... I was at least 10 feet. My only thought is that the old guy just had enough. But I love the gun and would really like to keep it off the retired wall.

I am wondering if anyone knows if there is a cross reference chart/table that would show if there is another barrel that would fit a Remington 29, what would be awesome is finding a slug barrel for it.

Anyone?

You can check with Remington customer service, but I fear there may BE no cross reference on your shotgun. I did take a peek at what gunpartscorp (Numrich) kists on their website- no barrel- usually if there is a multi- model part they have that listed. Sorry.....

2 1/2 lightfield.....didn't think they were that much more.... people have been shooting slugs through that gun for a long time ...... wait no .... the last shot was
a Remington 2 1/2 I didn't want to waste the lightfield on a mercy shot ...

Any place else I could poke around?

Default Still on the hunt?

Got lucky on the manual here's a link:
Vintage Remington Model 29 Repeating Shot Gun Brochure A133 | eBay
Remington Model 29 SHOTGUN GUN "REPAIR MANUAL" : Books at GunBroker.com
as to a barrel no joy yet. You may look at the Model 10 see if it matches up barrel wise seeing as that's it's daddy.
I'll keep an eye out but looks like you may need to find another gun and mix and match.
Yours in service
